table. display table made from reclaimed materials, of course. the top includes a 19 inch wide board salvaged from a pantry cabinet from a house on St.Ronan st. in New Haven. I literally chased the demo worker to get the board( and the rest of the pantry) before he dumped them. the end boards are sub floor from the old roller skating rink on Davenport Ave. New Haven. the shelf boards are from the same complex of buildings from shelving that was made from previously salvaged shipping crates. the framing is Doug Fir wall studs salvaged from an early 1900’s beach house in Madison , Ct. All held together by screws ( salvaged from a maintenance room from the St. Ronan house and a garage). the only new material is the finish. (hard to reuse urethane). the idea of using screws only is that it is easy to come apart without damaging anything so it can be reused, reconfigured, shipped, etc. and by the way, two people could square dance on this and it would be fine. its a display table , for its intended use, but could easily be used for rebuilding a transmission. it is definitely work bench in terms of strength. oh, we don’t do that kind of stuff anymore ? too bad. fond memories of engine rebuilds on kitchen tables.
