” The Yale Co-op was founded in 1885 and operated as a member-owned cooperative store that sold books, clothing, and other goods to the Yale community until its closure in 2000. After being displaced by a Barnes & Noble in 1997 from its long-time location on Broadway, the Co-op moved but ultimately went out of business due to debt and competition. Its legacy endures in its influence on menswear style, particularly through its exclusive GANT shirts, which have been reissued in recent years. “
